We ask for a deposit of $250 for a manuscript edit or critique to hold the date on the editorial calendar. We then ask for half of the remainder at the beginning of work, and the rest halfway through. Arrangements to pay in smaller installments can be made. You can ask at any time to see what we’ve done and assure yourself that all is going well.
The deposit is refundable up to a month before the expected start date. After that, it is nonrefundable. However, Narwhal at its discretion might elect to apply the deposit to future work, because we understand that sometimes stuff just happens.
After you’ve decided to work with Narwhal, we will send you an editorial agreement that specifies the service we’re providing for you, the fee, and the expected start date. We will keep the countersigned agreement on file.
What if my editing dates slips or if you’re late?
Sometimes date slippage happens. If we need to change the start date and you can’t accommodate that, we will return your refund. If we are more than a week late in returning your manuscript to you, we will discount your fee 5% for each additional week we are late. (Obviously, we try hard not to be late.)
What forms of payment does Narwhal accept?
You may pay Narwhal via personal check or PayPal.
